...which came first, the chicken or the egg? Seriously, which one was it? did the chicken come first, and lay an egg, or did the egg mysteriously appear, and then the chicken came out of it?

The answer is NOT god made the chicken, though you'll hear it alot here...
Through the process of evolution, some egg-laying bird existed somewhere long ago, and different eggs kept having changes in them that made them closer to our chicken today...
over the process of thousands of years...

There has recently been some research conducted at an english university and they have come up with... the egg came first.
The reasoning is, the creature which laid the egg which contained the chicken was not a chicken, but something very close to it in the evoloutionary scale and that the first chicken to hatch out of the first chicken egg was a mutated off spring of the creature who laid the egg...
So the egg came first...

Egg because of evolution. A ancestor chicken is not yet fully true chicken so with every generation it gives birth to a genetically closer chicken, but still not a true chicken. Then finally, we got the true chicken. Hold on.... actually there had to be that one egg that finally broke through to a true chicken so I guess it's actually egg. I learned and taught at the same time! I learned something new!

Why is this so hard for people to understand
The chicken came first because chickens make eggs, and if your going to say where did that chicken come from, it evolved out of an earlier life for that came from an earlier life from that reproduced a sexually until sex was developed. There was an actual animal that gave birth to the first offspring

i'm going with chicken. whether you believe God created the earth or evolution....it had to be the chicken. cuz God created animals and people and then reproduction after. annnd with evolution the chicken would evolve from something else, not just a random egg shooting up from the earth.....just my opinion. not really all that scientific but whatever.

The egg came first. It evolved into all kinds of animals, reptiles. Later on each specie evolved to produce eggs.
