It is only through the silliness of boundless human ego that anyone could believe we are alone. The people today that think this universe is all for us are the same people that hundreds of years ago were putting people in prison (and worse) for claiming such radical things as "the earth is not the center of the universe".

Universe this big - chances are there are some lifeforms out there, at least "primitive" life forms. Going aroung in spaceships, abducting people to run wierd experiments on them - not so much.
