The official rule is up for interpretation. According to the Miss Universe website, "Delegates may not be married or pregnant. They must not have ever been married, not had a marriage annulled nor given birth to a child."
On the surface, it would appear that a Miss Universe cannot be pregnant or have given birth to a child. However, the official rule says that "Delegates" cannot be pregnant. Delegates are those girls representing different countries competing for the title of Miss Universe. Miss Guam was disqualified in 1999 for supposedly being pregnant. However, I assume, a Miss Universe ceases to be a delegate once she has won.
The rules also say that a Miss Universe cannot have given birth to a child. However, if a Miss Universe were to become pregnant after winning the title (and thus ceasing to be a delegate) then she would not be breaking the rules listed on the official website unless she were to give birth during her reign.
In 1999, following the Miss Guam scandal, the final question posed to the three finalists vying for the title Miss Universe 1999 related to whether a Miss Universe should resign if she were to become pregnant. The eventual winner, Mpule Kwelagobe from Botswana, gave the following response:
"Personally, I think pregnancy should not in any way interrupt her duties. She should celebrate her femininity. Having children is a celebration of womanhood for all females, including beauty queens."
Many believe that Miss Botswana's steadfast response is what won her the crown.

The term "Pageant Enthusiast" suggests a level of education that exists somewhere below the 6th grade. The depths of human depravity that condone the celebration of such a meaningless event truly makes me weep.

Pageant enthusiasts might better spend their time figuring out how to end world hunger and disease and quit waiting for beauty pageants. How trivial.

Yeah, I guess it would be unfair not to. I could see excluding them from Miss America but Miss Universe... They are kinda included on account of the name. A more intersting question is would they want to participate in this institution of human silliness?

I don't think the opportunity would ever present itself for something like that to happen because, according to pageant rules, she will have a chaperone with her at all times.

Well no, i dont think she will be able to carry out her duties as efficiently if she were pregnant. It wouldnt be very good for the child as well. The travelling, meeting people, long hours. It just doesnt go well together. Thats the only reason.

It depends on the requirements of the Crown. with the name Miss Universe, sounds like she is single and therefore would be frowned upon if she became pregnant without being married.

She can only reign for a year until the next pagent is, and she'll be pregnant all the time she's reigning, so I don't think she can carry out her duties while pregnant.

Yes I think so...she earned her title fairly. I don't see what the big deal would be.

Why not. I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as she can do whatever it is that they do she should be able to keep her crown.
