Ferrari doesn't design most of their cars. Pininfarina is recognized as the premier car designer, worldwide. They're responsible for the Testarossa and F40, as well as the Lamborghini Countach.

Harley Earl, Battista Pininfarina, Carozzerie Ghia, and Enzo Ferrari are among the most famous. If you're into the cars they designed, there isn't a person who DOESN'T know all of these names and respect them equally.

Worldwide is Ferrari hands down. But just plain old american would be Harley Earl of GM. He came up with the 'Vette, Camaro, GTO and other early musclecars, and some of his designs are still followed and used today.

Tough call. Probably one of the Italians but the debate could go on forever.
The American designers were schizo---they could do nice things but also the next day design a Frankenstein.
