Yes you can. Do the prep work such as the glass ornamental door, proper insulation, vent etc.. You can save a bit of mullah here - Then call the gas pipe fitter to install the gas line. Do not mess with gas.

For insurance purposes, it must be a licenced gas fitter for sure.

All in all, it costs more than burning real wood. Pay back period is long. But if you are environmentally concious, gas is a good alternative.

Yes, we converted our fireplace to one with gas logs. The ambiance and warmth are worth the effort. I used to have allergies from molds and dust from the wood fireplace, but now I can go through a winter feeling mighty healthy. We chose to get a gas log from a reputable plumbing and heating establishment & they installed everything to meet the proper codes.

it can be! You can buy the gas fireplace from home depot. I had a plumber lay the pipe. I don't mess with natural gas.

Sure and it's relatively quite easy; the gas line(s) are of definite consequence on this and you can either do-it-yourself with competent advice, or you can contract this out. If you choose to have it done contact me directly and I'll help you as far as "what you should pay" so that you don't get possibly overcharged; if you decide to try to go it on your on I can also walk you through the project.

Yes my son and his wife did it in NC. Ask at a building supply place like Home Depot or Lowes---or call the gas co. in your area for an estimate.
