If you have a yellow card in one match then get one in another does it mean you get a red card, do you get sent off and do you automatically miss a match. How long does a yellow card hang over your head.

Group Stage = 3 Matches.
1 yellow card / match = Warning
another yellow card in any of the group matches = you play this game but u are suspended for the other.
2 yellow cards in the same game: you are suspended for this game and for the next one too.

however, all yellow cards will be wiped off after the group stage and all players will be clean.

however, if some one had a red card in the last match of the group, he cannot play the last 16 match ,

here is the description from bbc's website:

Single bookings from the group stage will not be carried over into the knock-out stage, but any suspensions incurred must be served.

Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard were both booked in England's opening 1-0 win over Paraguay, while Frank Lampard was shown a yellow card in the second match against Trinidad and Tobago.

If the trio avoid picking up cards in the final match against Sweden, those cautions would be wiped out.

The position over the length of bans for sendings-off is not so cut and dried.

"In that case, the length is decided by Fifa on a case-by-case basis," Football Association spokesman Andrin Cooper told BBC Sport.

2 yellow cards= 1 red, if you do something really bad the ref could give you just a strait red card. If you get a red card your out for the rest of the current game AND the next game. If you get a yellow in one game it carries over to the next game. All your cards carry over

Now days anything small, including late tackles will give you a red card. But basically anything that could hurt someone, depending on how hard the foul was, would be given a yellow or red card.
