If the black color absorbs heat and so used in solar cells to generate heat from the sun rays and they say to avoid black shirts in the summer, then why the umbrellas & cooling glasses are black in color?

Sun glasses are black because they absorb light. The idea is to let less light through to your eyes. Umbrellas used in the rain are often black but umbrellas used to make shade are usually a light color to reflect light.

Black is not a color. Black is the absence of all color. White (like white light) is all colors together( Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet). Things that absorb all colors appear black to our eyes. They really have no visible color and absorb visible light radiation. White reflects all visible colors so it appears as all the colors simultaneously which is white.
The fact that shades are black and umbrellas are black is because black looks wicked cool! Black matches most things. And mainly umbrellas are used in rain so it is usually cold out, thus the blackness of the umbrellas is irrelevant. Sunglasses need to cause shade over the eyes. Since they are made out of translucent plastic or glass, the best and most cost effective way to shade the eyes is with dark materials that absorb the light rays and give the eyes a darkened or diluted light visualization which makes it easier to see if the white light is too intense.

The purpose of umbrellas and sunglasses are for repelling, not generating, purposes. So black or other colored umbrellas and sunglasses are to repel rain and light from the sun's rays respectively.

I think you have hit on it. Most people use umbrellas to repel the rain not the sun. However I have seen some lovely ladies with sunbrellas and these are usually pure white just like their marble white skin. Its usually asian women these days who use sunbrellas. I don't know why but they do look younger than their age. Sweet, soft creamy, warm, buttery lovelies.
