There is an Intercity train going to Ljubljana - and it´s named after a person called "Joze Plecnik" - who is that? I think he´s Slovenian.

Joze Plecnik was a very famous Slovenian Architect of the last century ..And the centre of Ljubljana is basically his creation.. He is to the Slovenians a bit like Guadi is to The Barcelonians.
That is why the train (especially going to Ljubljana!) is named after him...

During the late 1920's to mid 1940's he set about transforming Ljubljana to be a new 'Athens' He designed 100's of projects in Ljubljana..His most famous include....

Church of St. Francis. Ljubljana. (1925-1927)
Vzajemna Insurance Company Offices. Ljubljana. (1928-1930)
National and University Library. Ljubljana. (1936-1941)
Riverfront improvements (various projects). Ljubljana. (1930-1944)
Žale Cemetery. Ljubljana. (completed 1940)

He also worked in Vienna and Prague as well .And he designed various parts of Prague Castle...

He belongs to the European Modernist school of Architecture.His style is can be seen as using Classicist architectural elements such as columns, lintels, balustrades and turrets, combining them in an inventive way...

His vision of Ljubljana was very successful..and the centre of Ljubljana is one of the most beautiful in the world now...

Jože Plečnik, (born January 23, 1872 in Ljubljana, Austro-Hungary (now Slovenia), died January 7, 1957 in Ljubljana) was a famous Slovene architect who practiced in Vienna, Belgrade, Prague and Ljubljana.

Besides the extraordinary high quality of his work Plecnik has also been attributed abroad with a high degree of originality and innovation in the use of historical, regional and even local features, rounding each in new authentic collection containing a multitude of items, from fine details, monuments and architectural motifs to large urban features.
