Most likely your are being given an antiboiotic....which to a healthy person isn't so much bad as potentially dangerous in the future. Too many antiboitics in your life can not only reduce thier affectiveness in the future but may make them ineffective in the future.

That said you get antibotics whenever you eat chicken or beef products through them.

But the doctor is the best source for any other concern. GOOD LUCK.

how PID is treated:
"There is no over-the-counter treatment for PID. Usually, PID can be cured with antibiotics. Most women can have outpatient treatment. If you are treated as an outpatient, you must take your medicine just the way your doctor tells you to. If you don't take all the pills, your symptoms will get worse and you may have to go to the hospital. A few days after you start taking the medicine, your doctor will want to see you for a checkup.

Hospitalization may be recommended if you are very sick with PID, or if you are pregnant, under the age of 18 or have the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is serious. If the doctor wants you to take the medicine then that is what you should do. The effects of PID will be far worse than any medicine. My mom had that before she got pregnant with my sister and didn't know it. That was 28 years ago, so medicine, technology and knowledge are far better now, but my mom almost lost her life and my sister being pregnant with PID and not getting help before getting pregnant. Well my sister is fine and my mom is too, but she did have a hysterectomy a year later.

So, yes take the medicine. I would be safe rather than sorry.

I'm sure the doctor didn't just give you the medication just because you said you have something.

Did he do any tests or ask questions? Did he agree that he thinks you may have it? If so, go ahead and take the medicine the pharmacist probably wouldn't fill the prescription if it would interact with something that you're already taking.

I would listen to the doctor, he probably knows what he is doing, however if you have clamydia, why arent you being treated for that since it is easily curable?
