The experts say Gatorade is good for athletes. What about for people who are stuck in front of the computer for most of the day? Is it good/bad/okay?

Gatorade overall is bad for your health.

Its primary function is to help people reatain water and hydration through salts and packed with lots of sugar.

and it is designed for active people losing water through sweat...imagine a normal person not active. You build up on the sugars, the salt will bloat you, and Gatorade is really really bad for your teeth.

once in while is good.

Not really, the purpose of gaterade is to replenish lost body fluid and balance electrolytes. Unless you are working out very hard or playing a very physical game (sweating alot) you are just adding a huge amount of sodium into your body. Gaterade isn't a drink for sipping and unfortunately most people are drinking it when it's not really necessary.
