Is he the Best player to ever set foot on the World Cup stage?
Or is he just a great player that happened to be surrounded by enough great players that he could break a record like "most goals in World Cup History"?

1. Pele
2. Maradonna
3. Ronaldo

In the wake of his public flogging prior to and during this World Cup, I think that this is a fair question to ask.

Ronaldo has been in terrible form, looking old and slow and depressed and still not looking normal even after two goals against Japan.

But the fact is that he did score two and that he has scored consistently in the past. And I don't think he has scored simply because he played with great Brazil teams and players. The ball didn't go in off of his butt all of those times. He is one of the best strikers of all time--based on ability. My favourite goal of his was the toe-poke that tricked Khan in the 2002 final.

While you could say he belongs in the top 5 of all time, I would put an asterisk beside his name for now due to some of his weird performances: the final against France in 1998 and the opening match against Croatia in 2006.

The thing about it is I really like Ronaldo but he could have been even greater...

Let's hope that he continues to grow in fitness and confidence in this World Cup. It would make for a great story about the player and the coach who helped him along...

Stronger performances, more goals and a sixth World Cup (Hexa) for Brazil and Ronaldo will be cemented in the top 5 for me.

1. Ronaldinho
2. Ronaldo
3. Kaka
4. Robinho
5. Raul

Ronaldo is a great player. He is tied with another player for the most goals, which is 14. He needs one more goal to break the record, which i think will be easy for him! But lately people say he is getting fat. I sort of agree. His first match he was barely moving. There was a subsitution for him, and he got boos from the crowd. I thought he played so much better on the match on June 22nd. Hopefully no one will make fun of him after that match.

1. Miroslav Klose
2. Kaka
3. Omar Bravo
4. Michael Ballack
5. Ronaldhino

Ronaldo dosent belong on this list because he still cant run, who cares if he scored 2 goals...IT WAS AGAINST JAPAN!! And he did it cherypicking standing by the post and in the box all game. He didnt run up and down the feild. Lets see how well that stradegy would work against a GREAT team like Germany or Argentina....it wouldnt. Ronaldo is still a bust to me.

This is all based on performance and skill in THIS YEARS WORLD CUP!!!

Ronaldo is slowly returning to match fitness, and the goals will start to flow again. He'll be hoping that they won't start to flow after the tournament, but two in one game was pretty good.

Top 5 Current (based on how each player plays in their role):
1. Ronaldinho
2. Henry (Ignore the first two world cup games)
3. Riquelme
4. Gerrard
5. Petr Cech
