Hydrogen peroxide will eat away the stain. Lay the garment on an old towel (something the stain can move into) and take a teaspoon of h.p.and drizzle it onto the stain. It will fizz while the peroxide works on the blood. Wait til the fizzing stops, blot up the excess liquid with an edge of the towel, then use a little more peroxide. Keep doing this until the stain is gone.

You can also try this but dilute the peroxide first with half regular water, if you think the fabric is too delicate.

Peroxide only works on bodily fluids...

If it's something you're really concerned about preserving, I'd take it to a cleaner. If you want to risk it on your own, I'd use laundry detergent with some peroxide based bleach and work it into the stain. Wash it, but AIR dry it. If the stain is still there, repeat.

Soak in COLD water (never hot as it will make it worse)

Use biological washing powder when you soak. Leave overnight if necessary.

If all else fails - very gently bleach it. Use a teaspoon of bleach in at least two litres water to start with.

Good luck.

Buy the lime scale remover "cillit bang", its not meant for clothes but it is great at getting rid of stains. If the garment is ruined by the stain anyway, you have nothing to lose.
