The other, I would believe...however, only two runs are counted.
When three are run, obviously the batsmen will end up at opposing ends.
However, the umpire will tap his shoulder to indicate a short run - and so only two runs will be recorded...unlike a boundary, when the striker returns to the strike regardless of where he has run

When a run is run short the batsmen remain where ever they ahve completed the run, the only thing which changes is the score.

the other one. it is clear. the sides have been changed, and if signalled a short run, two runs are given and the batsman assume their places. other batsman will bat the next ball.
