I thought the Huns defeated the Germanic peoples: Goths, Franks, etc. Didn't the Germans pay tribute to Attila the Hun for a temporary peace?

When I go to Baltimore, everyone gets called Hun. I thought it was a term of endearment.

No. He wasn't crazy. And that's Sir Winston Churchill to you.

You must get into your mind the different time lines of history. Yes, the Hun did defeat the Germanic people and no, they did not pay tribute to Atilla for a temporary peace. The Hun accepted no tribute for peace. The Hun conqured and destroyed. There was peace ONLY after they left.

Sir Winston used the reference Hun in connection with the German Army in that they both, German and Hun, had no mercy.
