I believe consumer awareness is a couple things. First would be the consumer themselves, making themselves aware of what they are buying and the consequences for that. I also think it is a measurement for exploitation by businesses. Using a public's lack of awareness to make money.

Consumer Awareness is when a Consumer undertsand thigns about their product, such as where it was made, how it was made, was it made in a fair country etc. Its also about recognising and realising we as consumers have responsibilities to try and buy 'fair' products, ie, not stuff like GAP
