Yeah I found that out when I tried to view my home from a satellite, Quite disappointing,i thought with todays technology that we should have instant images from space. When they show live pictures from a space shuttle they are'nt 2 days old are they? or are they????? Discuss

If you are looking for maps of the earth that are up to date try looking at NASA for them. Although I dont think you can get any thing newer than what you are seeing. I think the goverment wont allow things like that out until the information is obsolete.

Yes, they are old. Its expensive to launch satellites and to operate them. If you want up to date satellite images, they are available for purchase from many different companies. If you want them for free, you have to take what the Internet has to offer.

the satellite they are taken from is about 1 light year away, light takes a year to get to the satellite and then another year to be beamed back to earth, therefore being two years old....
