Dolphins are extremely curious and playful creatures. If they don't see you as a predator or part of their food chain then I wouldn't have thought there was a problem.

I have swam with a pod of some 300 in New Zealand and and found it totally exhilarating. You feel clumbsy and inept alongside these masters of the blue weaving in and out and jumping out of the water. In a sense it is actually them swimming with you NOT you swimming with them. They choose to "check you out" if they are in a curious frame of mind - you have no chance to swim with them if they arn't interested. If you get the chance do it and engage their curiosity by singing whistling clapping ....anything

Hope you try it someday.....

My name is Omer and I am from Turkey. When I was 14 years old, I was swimmimg with my sister in Blacksea. We were not so far from the shore. However, I noticed that there were some dolphins swimming almost 75 meters away from us.We were not scared or nervous but really curious. Two of them came to right next to us and we swam 10 minutes with them.It was soooooo beautiful and peacefull experience for me.If wild dolphins come closer to you, just remember that they are as curious as you. Please love them...

Best Wishes from Istanbul,Turkey
Omer

dolphins like any other wild animal...can be dangerous. they are cute and smart and "Oh my god..its flipper"..but seriously!!! they are wild animals...they are bigger than you, and stronger..if you don't respect their space they will show you who's boss. id swim carefully, and let the dolphins approach you...don't invade their space unless they invite you into it.

Not really they can become overly playful to the point of pain or even death for you.
