I count 1,207 in the CelesTrak master index. According to one NASA source, there have been about 4,000 launches, but some of them launched more that one satellite, and of course many of them have already reentered.

there are mant hundreds of satalite's in orbit around the earth. for example there are at least 18 satalites used by bskyb broadcasting

there are a hundreds of satellites in space , u'r question must be how many of them are active .

If you take the case of India , it might have 6/7 satellites(active)
