I'm not sure you can technically call it an affair if you're married. Then it's just marital sex.
Anyway...after you have a baby your womb is damaged and requires time to heal. Your doctor will tell you how long you should wait before having sex again, because you'll be bleeding for quite some time after delivering, because you may have torn and your stitches need time to heal, and because you can indeed become pregnant immediately after delivering if he ejaculates inside you. Your best option is to spend a lot of time cuddling so you retain that closeness, and maybe satisfy each other in other ways, but wait until the doctor has given you leave to have sex again. (I tried to do it too soon after delivering and it hurt like hell.)

You should wait at least 6 weeks after delivering your baby to resume intercourse with your husband. (8 weeks if a c-section)

Check with doctors.
By the way, besides the physical wound on the vaginal, there is also lot of emotional issues. If there is no domestic helper, and no relative to help out, that poor wife will have to cook, clean the house, care for baby, feed baby, all all other stuff. Leave her alone.
For me, after 2 weeks, we have it. But I help out with house work, and i have helper. With that, I am also giving her more attention than my baby, making her feel real good emotion.
So man, if you love your wife, do it with practical action, and she will do it the way you want.

you supposed to wait 6 weeks but my and my husband usually wait 2 weeks. But i wouldnt reccommend it, thats why we have 4 kids and im 6 months pregnant, and the oldest is 4!

when a woman has a baby the doctor will state how long she has to wait before she can resume sexual intercourse to give her body proper time to heal
