Check out this website. www.quitsmokingonline.com. It doesn't cost anything, and I will be using it's ideas when I quit. SOON.

Listed below are some ideas. Eliminate the ash trays and provide him with"Butt Buckets". You will have to be ready to buy them on the buck retailer, about $2 ea.. If no,t get an inflammable container that has a lid. Make a gap within the lid a bit bigger than the width of a cigarette, concerning the measurement of a dime. These objects appear to prevent the odor of the cigarettes from permeating the room. It is the smell of the ashtray filled with butts that explanations most of the smell. To aid absorb odour put bicarb soda in the backside of the containers. Position containers of bicarb soda (baking powder) in all places the condominium. These will take in one of the most odours. Spray every room with half of water and 1/2 white vinegar. Get the spray bottle when you purchase the Butt Buckets. White vinegar neutralises odours and is low cost. You're going to be amazed at how potent it's. The vinegar smell lingers in brief however soon goes. Use white vinegar in place of fabric contioner. Clothes will odor easy when dry with out a lingering odours. My essential concern is if he is incompetent he will motive a fireplace when everyone is asleep and can't maintain an eye on him, so have smoke detectors installed when you have not already have them. You can also have to confiscate his cigarettes at night.

It is wonderful that you have decided to quit.
You will!
I was heavy smoker for 25 years, never wanted to quit untill one day, I knew that I wanted to, Not even for me really,(something I wanted to do for God) I had alot of prayer from friends and set a date for my last smoke.I tapered off for 3 weeks, down to 2 a day then was completly free! I have not smoked since1993.
It was hard for me in that my mind was addicted. If I felt overwhelmed and wanted to smoke, i would literally turn and walk away from where ever I was standing untill the craving past.If I had to go for a drive or walk somewhere, I did. Whatever I could do to remove myself from the temptation, I would do. I have no desire to smoke and my health has improved dramatically... You will love your life!

first off, you must really want to stop. if you don't, don't waste your time trying. get your usual smokes for the week, then over the course of 7 days you gradually reduce them until your last smoke is on sunday night before you go to sleep. during this time you use nicotine patches to help. on the monday morning you will feel better and all you have to beat then is the habit. believe me it is certainly worth it. count up how much it would cost you to smoke for the rest of the year, its an eye opener.
I have had lung cancer and i promise you you do not want it. stop now or suffer. i know, been there. best of luck to you and remember you have to WANT TO STOP or you wont make it.
cheers

I smoked for 35 years. The way I quit is to start out by not smoking the 1st hour of each day. The 2nd week is not to smoke the first 2 hours of each day.I extended my no smoking period for one hour each week.By the time you get to the 4th week you will be able to quit smoking. Also do not get up at night and smoke. Good luck.

Start by asking yourself very realistic questions such as;what are the known side effects of smoking? How is it like to be in poor health condition? Will I like to die early?Lungs and cancer problems kill?
Then visit banned smoking arears and spend time there.Tell your self "a sturborn fly folloes a corps to the grave"

Tell yourself that you're actually killing yourself. try to think that you can inhale the same amount of smoke by standing at a busy signal for a few days.
the best way is to be too shy to ask for a lighter/matchsticks and stop carrying them!!!
