I truly believe that some people should not be allowed to have or take care of children. If there were backround checks for every adult before they could raise a child, maybe I wouldn't have been raped by my step father when I was 7. Does anyone agree with me?

I couldn't agree more. A license is required to drive, hunt, fish...but not create and raise a human being?? That's insane. Some people have absolutely no business having children, and if it took more effort than a romp in the sack to produce one I think people would give it a lot more thought. It's a choice, not a requirement of life. Not everyone is cut out to say, drive a car, and if you get a few too many DWI's your license is promptly revoked. A parenting license should have similar rules of conduct to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Of course, it's a step in the right direction but it wouldn't necessarily prevent all potentially bad parents from becoming one.

I know I'll probably get a lot of flack for this but I trully think that the gov't shouldn't let some people breed at all. In my hometown we had a couple whose kids were all taken away because they both molested and beat them. So this couple kept having babies year after year and DFS would be waiting at the hospital to take the kids into the foster system. You know these people were living on welfare and that Medicare was paying for her hospital bills wouldn't it have been smarter to force her to get a tubal ligation? I know civil rights and all that but it just seems like stupidity to me.

I'm not sure how it would have prevented you being sexually assaulted by your step-father, but I agree that every prospective parent should be required to take parenting classes.

P.S. I'm sorry you went through that. All the best to you.

People have to have a driver's license before they can legally drive. It doesn't stop drunks for driving, nor does it stop people who are unlicensed from driving.

A great idea in theory, but hard to administer in terms of practicality.

I am sorry for your situation. Your step father deserves to be shot.

it truly is definitely a sturdy theory in concept, even however, as you mentioned, unenforceable. we would thoroughly overload the equipment even extra advantageous than it already is with court docket circumstances and removing infants from homes the place mothers and fathers dont have "licensure." the place are those infants going to flow, and what are the actual standards for this license? the place could you draw the line between somebody who ought to acquire one and somebody who ought to no longer? someplace between drug abusers, family contributors violence subjects, or basically undeniable lack of information as mothers and fathers. distinctive people could have many distinctive comments pertaining to to what constitutes sturdy/undesirable parenting.
