i believe that it is due to there government brain washing and restricting what they are exposed to. For example I had some Americans live with me in Australia and they could not believe the world news that we get here. They said that it would be very one sided in America, to make the current government look good. And they would never show anything to make the government look bad. I think that Sweden (socialist) has the highest standard of living yet America wants to rid the world of socialism. The rulers of America are corrupt and only care about making money, staying in power and having control over there people. So I think that it is all to do with their leaders.

Isn't it just human nature to believe whatever they have is 'the best'? It kind of makes me sick when Americans shout "WE ARE THE BEST" as it sounds so arrogant. Maybe some of us are very grateful and proud, but I wish people would consider the others who are listening. Personally, I think we would do well to brag less and learn from other countries. After traveling around, though, I do think we have been extraordinarily blessed, but we never should take that for granted or boast. One reason other countries can "look after their people better" is they don't take in immigrants, and we have been kind enough to offer haven to others. Even with all our faults, America is a good place to call home!

If it isn't, then why would all these people from other countries risk there life to get here? No we're not perfect and yes we have allowed the sorry excuse of people known as politicians to ruin more than they've made better. Even though we are not as free as we once were nor do we always make the right decisions, where the hell else would you want to live? So pack your ******* bags and get the hell out! We don't need anymore phony Americans, thank you very much! After all we have more than enough haters, thief's,cheats, liars, selfserving their own agendas in Washington(lining their pockets)instead of serving the country and people they are supposed to govern by,not over. We the people have forgotten and/or been led astray from this believe on which this government was founded on, A government of the people-by the people- for the people. Not a government that works more like a tyranny,or camouflaged Nazi police state. Everyday we allow this government to erode the believes and values, personnel rights and freedoms that our constitution gives to us as having been blessed by being born in"The land of the free and the home of the brave!"We come that much closer to living in a third-world hell that so many wish to come here to get out of. So I will repeat myself "if you don't think this is the greatest nation on earth PACK YOUR ******* BAGS AND GET THE HELL OUT WE DON'T WANT OR NEED YOU!"
The dissension and negativity that you offer just really isn't appreciated. We need more people who truly wish to be one of us, not among us. No more posers please, we have more than enough now.

A short answer is that Americans are under the belief that this is a "free country"

Americans have a lot more governmental rights than most countries, but I believe this is just what the American government wants us to believe.

No one said that the U.S. is perfect. Every country has its flaws and every country has its strength. Besides, there are many different people from different countries living in the U.S. I feel each country is unique in its own way, and I respect all the people regardless of where they come from.

its american culture... the values are pretty good (in theory), but sometimes (in practice) the government does nasty things. patriotism was very important when breaking away from europe (to keep the fight inside the masses to revoke british rule) but sometimes now, it borders on ego-tism. i guess if you're told everyday you're country is the best and don't know much about the rest of the world you don't really know any better, do you?
