He was the referee of Australia vs Croatia and withheld two penalties from the Australians, gave Simunic three (!) yellow cards before sending him off, disallowed a clear Australian goal and allowed a clear Australian offside goal. Furthermore he seemed to have a personal grudge against Mark Viduka (Aus) who did not get any decision in his favor even it was clear.

It also makes you wonder what the assistent referees and fourth official were doing? The fourth official should at least have noticed the 2 yellow cards.

He is regarded as the top referee in the Englush Premiership, and admittedly, he is a good ref, but his performance in the Croatia Australia game leaves much to be desired. I feel he tried too hard to make a name for himself and forgot he was there to referee. His performance shot himself on the foot and he has missed any chance of being at the final - no ref hands out 3 yellow cards if they know what they are doing!

He certainly isnt in the same ranks as Collina, the only ref i have ever seen to be cheered on the park at a Rangers European Tie.

I only just read about the three yellow cards this morning, and I was laughing so hard. I always said from the beginning that he shouldn't be at the World Cup, although it was biased because he refereed a Chelsea match, and was absolute shite. Maybe he is going senile, he couldn't remember whether he'd given out two already.

Anyway, I miss Collina too, he was great! My Dad told me that he stopped being a referee because UEFA or FIFA(whatever) didn't want him to do those car adverts, but, obviously, he went ahead with it. Sadly.

I think his errors would be easier to deal with if he hadn't got such an overbearing pompous attitude - he always sets himself up as being as much of a 'star' as the players, and his attitude on the pitch is overbearing and arrogant. Let us simply hope the FA deal with him in the same way as Andy D'Urso, who lost his place in the top flight of referees for exactly the same mistake of booking a player twice without sending him off.

he's rated by making use of many Premiership managers as probable the main suitable referee interior the game. basically with the aid of fact he enforces the regulations (which he did no longer make by making use of the way) does not make him a foul ref. gamers are to blame. constantly making use of foul language, diving, querying each and every determination and customarily performing like overgrown infants. possibly if the gamers wiped sparkling their act up that should in user-friendly terms get somewhat extra comprehend from referees.

one of THE worst referees ever seen in the World Cup. Even the retired Pierluigi Collina is better & he is still the best referee in the world.

I just feel so sorry for refs in general. The pressure they face is amazing. Give poor Graham Poll a break. As long as hes not refereeing any Ipswich Town games next season i wont complain about him. If he does referee an Ipswich game then PLEASE GIVE US 3 PENALTIES!!

Graham Poll sucked as well as Markus Merk (Brazil vs Australia)... They should be ashamed by themselves. Lucky me - I'm not Australian - I would be really pissed off... I hope referees in their next matches will be better because they are really good team and deserve better then Poll or Merk...

The English FA selected Mr. Poll on the grounds of him being our "best" ref in the country. After ;ast night's performance, if he is the best we have, the rest of the world must be laughing at us.
