Edward Scissorhands. Willy Wonka character seems to be the son of Scissorhands.

I don't think of him as Willy Wonka at all. Gene Wilder was and always will be Willy Wonka. I love Johnny Depp though. In every other movie, he is an amazing actor. Being able to play such a variety of parts and able to each and everyone off successfully and make people believe is a fabulous ability that more actors and actresses need.

HOW do i think of johnny depp? Thats a dangerous question and could be very R-rated lol. No but seriously Johnny was the only good thing in tht movie. It was otherwise shite!

What do I think of him in general or just in that role?
I loved him in WHat's Eating Gilbert Grape although he was completely outdone by Leonardo Di Caprio (at the time unknown)
I think he's a really good actor- doesn't seem fake and always makes very good choices with films.
Seems to have good...(forgotten the word) slection process- doesn't do a film just because, or for x amount of money.
And he stays out the tabloids- a true actor always manages to stay out them and doesn't rely on the extra publicity me thinks.
He was great in chocolat, and amazing in pirates of the caribbean.
Loved secret window, sleepy hollow and edward scissorhands as well.
In a lot of Tim Burton stuff!

According to the wife of the writer of the original book Charlie and chocolate factory. she says her husband would have loved Depp in as Wonka that it followed his book. She said he didn't like how the original movie was to nice and sugary.

Well, I don't get his popularity. I think that people are fascinated because he is unique. He doesn't act macho, but he doesn't make a complete fool of himself, either. Still, I don't get his popularity. Usually people like extremes. He isn't the feminine type, he isn't macho, he isn't Jim-Carrey like in his antics...So, I believe that people like him only because there is no one else that acts and looks like him. I'm not really a huge fan of his.
