looking to get one for the garden, i want to know which gives of the most heat?

it depends on how big the fire within it is. as you may know, the bigger the fire the more heat it gives off. as for a chiminea breaking because of the heat, i would say that that would be a very rare thing because they are made from terracotta ( red clay ) and that's the type of stuff that the space rockets are protected with to stop them burning up on reentry. a tiny little fire ain't going to get anywhere near as hot as a speeding rocket breaking through earths atmosphere.

the chiminea would put out heat for a small area,and if gotten to hot it will crack or break.you best bet is a fire pit ,because it will give heat to the entire surrounding area!and it wont break!

I've had both and a firepit gives off more heat. The other is mostly for ambiance.
