Yes, with your lungs full of air you are bouyant, the problem comes when you have to take a breath.. most people let go of all the air and sink, the trick is just take little breaths while keeping most of your lungs full

and also you need to have good balance, because to do what I said above you have to be on your back, and your feet are going to want to come down, but you have to balance them out with your body

by breathing in air and holding it in your lungs you are more boyant than with empty lungs, however this does not automatically equate to floating or sinking. People who are heavier, and remember that muscle weighs more than fat so I'm not discriminating against large people, but hevier people will sink faster than light people, so a heavy person holding their breath may still sink, and a light person not holding their breath may still float, but as a general rule holding your breath will push your boyancy level into the positive range (usually a very small amount lighter than water), and breathing out will push your boyancy level into the negative (or heavier than water) range.

Yes, but there are easier ways to hold your breath. On your back, just stick your stomach out and keep your chin up. On your stomach, look down at the bottom of the pool and hold your stomach in. Hope it helps!!
