So, being anti-Bush is now being anti-American? Learn some American history. This country was *founded* on the principles that it was not only OK, it was a man's duty to protest against his government if he thought things were wrong.
And to think, the right-wingers call the Democrats mindless robots.

As far as their music goes.. I haven't cared for any of thier songs since the 'Wide Open Spaces' album came out, years ago. Actually, my interest in them pretty much disappeared after I saw them live ('97 I think). I have been to many concerts, but they were definately the absolute worst act I had ever seen. And then with their new albums, I just don't care for any of it.
Now, as far as thier opinions and things.. It's not thier thoughts/feelings about the issues that annoys me about them. It's the way they are about it that just gets under my skin. So they don't like the President, fine. They are entitled to their opinion, as are everyone else. But that doesn't mean they should be going around (even after all this time) being so horribly nasty about everything. That is the thing I have a problem with.. not their opinions, but the way they act about it.
They just come off as extremely rude, and tacky individuals who have zero respect for anyone else. And the way the other two girls go along with anything and everything that big mouth Natalie Maines says, is just ridiculous.
And now with all their comments about not wanting their cds in the same player as certain other artists.. well, let's just say I won't be rushing to the store to purchase their new cd.
It's not thier opinions that disgust me, it's their attitudes.
(all just personal opinion of course)

I used to listen to them. In my opinion, I don't think they are anti-American, per se, but their loud mouths are a huge turn-off. I don't want to know a musician's politcal opinions, and since the Dixies have started stating their anti-Bush views, I have basically tuned them out. It isn't because of their stance so much, but I like my entertainers to entertain and shut up about politics. I thought entertainment should help keep our mind off the serious stuff. If I want to think of politcs, I will turn on TV and watch politcal shows. In other words, shut up and SING.

Can't stand them. Don't care for their politcal views. Don't buy their CD's. What makes them think that we really care about their politics. People go to their concerts (maybe) to hear music. Go back to the hills Dixie Chicks.

What is so Anti-American about freedom of specch/opinion?
Get off your high horse. They're entertainers, and I think they've gotten too many lashings on their comments, which is why I have to agree with hypocritical people who have bashed on them for so long.

I feel bad for them, because since they're a small band, when they spoke out against Bush, they paid for it big time. But when other big celebs/singers say stuff about Bush, nothing happens, becasue they're so big and so many people would get upset. I think it sucks that they're making an example of a small band and leaving all the bigger ones alone.

Yeah, nothing's more anti-American than having a political opinion. Let's burn that Constitution and start a one-party system--then there will be no more "democracy" to trouble us with "debate" and other such nonsense.
Idiot.

Get over it.
Democracy is about being able to express your opinion. Dissent and questioning our leaders keeps the government on its toes.
