If its a stock - it depends on how much the stock cost. Say its a $2 per share. You should buy in 100 share lot minimum so that's $200 plus $10 co mission

If you are looking at mutual finds, I think there are some that have a $300 minimum. Check a few companies such as Vanguard and Fidelity.
