Witches do not hate salt.

When we honor Mother Earth, alot of Witches will use salt to represent Earth. Some Witches use dirt to also represent Earth. It's entirely up the to the individual.

By the way, just a side note: There is no such thing as a "Warlock". Both men and women are called "Witches". You are either a Male Witch or a Female Witch. The word "Witch" actually means "Wise One" which denotes that it can refer to a male or a female. The word "Warlock" actually means "Traitor".

I hope that my answer has helped you. Have a lovely rest of the day.

Bright Blessings.....

I don't personally, but the myth came from an old wives tale and a mixture of Judeo-Christian beliefs on the properties of salt including warding off evil, magic, and negativity. An old practice used to be to place salt on a windowsill to protect those attached to the house from being hexed or cursed.
Salt in the Bible is used as a symbol of purity, something that in history, many witches were not regarded as. Therefore Salt=No Witches.

In the movie with Bette Midler, Hocus Pocus, the young kids at Halloween used salt to ward off the 3 Witches. In reality this old myth that Witches hate salt comes from the fact salt was not put on the table at Sabbats. In England, France, and Scotland, the salt vat was used on tables to designate "class" and acceptable seating arrangements.

Salt is often used for purification and protection.

It was often believed a circle of salt would ward of evil spirits.

Christians often threw witched in as being evil spirits or possesed by them so salt was though to ward them off aswell.

It is because witches (black magic) derive their power from the devil and thus share his weaknesses, and salt comes from the sea, which is poison to devils. The sea is said to have spilled from God's cup, therefore it's contents render the devil powerless. Salt is considered to be "pure" and holy water is actually just a mixture of salt and water that has been blessed by a priest. Witches have no power over anything that is pure, in addition, salt burns them to the touch. So encircling yourself in a ring of salt is said to keep you safe from their black magic.

they use it actually to protect themselves sometimes. But, if there is a story you're referring to it probably points to salt as protection because it is associated with purity and assumes that witches are evil. And, usually they're not. I'm not one officially, but am Wicca curios and have experimented alittle.
