because rain falls fast and hard and snow drifts down to the grownd

Can You possibly imagine if Snow dropped folks all over would be yelling out "Avalanche"!
And Rain drops started to Fall all at once.. what one Hell of a swiming hole we all would have in our back yards, basements and possibly our attic's as well.

I would think because rain is drops of water, whereas snow is not. But I have heard people say rainfall too.

rain is more dense than snow. So as rain speeds to the ground snow seems to float or fall.

coz snow is light and it kinda floats down so falls is better but water's heavier so it drops. Here's one for ya though. If snow falls and rain drops as water how come if there's enough water going over a cliff its called a waterfall and not a waterdrop. DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!!!!

- A drop of rain is called raindrop..but the falling of several raindrops is called rainfall.
-Snow is not a liquid, therefore a bit of snow cannot be called snowdrop..And naturally continuous fall of snow is called snowfall!

you are confusing the form of rain (the rain drop) with the process of precipitation (falling). The proper term is rainfall.
