Well, most of the major "personality disorders" (such as antisocial, avoidant, schizoid, and the like) seem to be rooted in biological temperament and then either made worse or better by what environment the child is raised in.

For example, if you want someone to be depressed:
1. Limit their freedom and exploration of the world.
2. Make them feel powerless, socially and otherwise -- that nothing they do matters in terms of changing their lives.
3. Make them believe they are worthless and no one is interested in them.

Works like a charm... (groan)

Or, if you want someone to become more antisocial:
1. Physically abuse them.
2. Reward them for striking back.
3. Encourage aggression, praise violence.
4. Set violent examples.
5. Constantly tell them others cannot be trusted and they have to take care of themselves.

[Yeesh, as I write this, I can see it happening in the typical abusive/dysfunctional family situation.]

Often people don't even realize they are using "techniques." They are simply responding out of what THEY learned. (Sad.)

There are other mental illnesses, such as post traumatic stress syndrome -- which results from being placed in situations where (1) the body is always under stress, fearing injury or death, (2) hypersensitivity is necessary for survival, (3) survival is uncertain, and (4) you are forced to do terrible things to other human beings in order to survive.

On a humorous note, the comment about "marriage" was correct. :) If marriage doesn't have the potential to drive someone nuts (because of the necessary ways in which a person must allow himself to change, in order to make it work), then nothing does. :)

Well, putting those little sideways smiley faces is a start....just kidding. Clinical insanity is usually due to some mental disorder that is caused by a brain injury, defect or chemical imbalance. To actually drive a person to that point, one would have to resort to torture, starvation, sleep deprivation, physical abuse and drugs. The person would likely recover after being released from such an environment though, so it wouldn't be permanent unless the person had a predilection towards insanity in the first place.

NO ONE CAN DO SO SINCE THE ENTIRE WORLD WOULD HAVE BECOME AN ASYLUM FOR INSANITY SINCE CERTAIN PERSONS LIKE THE DESTRUCTION OF OTHERS.BUT ABOVE ALL GOD THE POWER EXIST HENCE NOTHING WORKS OUT INFAVOUR OF THESE PEOPLE.IF YOU HAVE A FEAR THAT SOMEONE CAN DO THIS TO YOU NEVER. PRAY GOD AND PRAYERS DO MIRACLES. GOOD LUCK
