I’ve been told that if a man likes me, then he will want to sit across from me …

But if I like him, then I am more likely to have him sit beside me.

Why !?!?!??!

It's interesting. I hadn't noticed it.

If I was trying to support it, based on what I know, here's what I think:

1. Guys initially focus on visuals. It's the primary means of attraction. After he gets to know a girl, then her personality and things come into play, but initially it's the sight of her that catches his eye.

Guys like to stare at girls they consider beautiful.

There is also some physical space between a couple when they are separated by a table; studies of at least western cultures show that men insist on more space around them than women do (for whatever reason).

2. Girls like to feel close to people, in general. Sitting next to them offers a sense of physical closeness and friendship. It's not a matter of sex per se, it's simply a sense of being together. The guy is WITH her, by her side.

Why do you think girls like cuddling far more often, either in lieu of sex or afterwards? Again, the closeness makes them feel desirable and personal.

Ironically, when it comes to same sex, you do see the opposite. Many women enjoy staring at each other's face while talking -- very personal. They are relating.

Guys who are together tend to work side by side to accomplish goals (sports, video games, whatever else). They're doing stuff together, which is how men generally relate.

Men like to look at the person when they are talking to them. Where as the women want to hang on the guy.

well in the mens case its so that he can sneak peaks at you
and women sit next to men they like because they want to show they are interested men try to be suttle and dont wanna invade your space thats why they sit across
at least in my opinion it is that way besides thats the reason i would sit near a guy i like and i know its the reason he sits accross cuz i catch him sneaking peeks at me

He wants to sit opposite you cause he's trying to look up your skirt.

Men and women will always be different, and no one will ever truly understand why.

THIS IS THEORY OF MAGNETISM THE SAME POLES REPEL WHERE AS OPPOSITE POLES ATTRACTS.
THEN THE MAN WISHES TO SIT OPPOSITE TO THAT LADY TO SEE HER APPEARANCE IN FULL AND ENJOY WHERE AS THE LADY WISHES TO SIT BESIDES DUE TO FACT THAT THE PLEASURE OF TOUCH OR RUBBING A LADY WANTS TO ENJOY ALWAYS.
