I'm 14 years old & am going to be a freshman this year. I am interested in starting a job to just get the ball rolling. I am a certified baby-sitter, but don't really know how to advertise that. I was thinking of maybe a job at like Starbucks or something. Earning some extra cash would be nice to help go towards a car when I turn 16. So is there a way I can get an occupation permit at the age of 14? Thanks.

It depends on the state that you are from, but I am pretty sure you cannot apply for a work permit until you are at least 15 or16 years old. Also, there is the good website called www.craigslist.org, you can actually look for babysitting positions on that website and even put up an ad stating that you are a certified baby-sitter. Just be careful, because anything you post on the internet can be dangerous. So my recommendation is to look for a babysitting position on that website, interview the parents to see if they fit what you want in regards to how they raise their children and what kind of baby sitter they are looking for and see if you can land that job. Also, if you go to church or a place of religious worship, I recommend you put up a flyer there, because there are many people with families and little children that go to church or a place of worship.
