Hello,
Why did you chose to travel to Lithuania? It's a bit strange. I'm a Lithuanian. Well soccer starts in spring and ends in October. But do you know that Lithuania is not very good at soccer? We are much better in basketball. Lithuania is pretty cheep country according to USA. 1$ is 2.6 Litas. And to compare you can buy a bottle of 0.5l beer for 1$. The most popular sites are: Vilnius-the capital, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Nida (the nature is great there-sand dunes which look like desert), The cross hill with thousands of crosses and other. Hotels are cheep too. From 100 Litas to 300Litas. You can rent a car here and all is quiet ok. Food is a bit fatty (as the foreigners say) The best advice would be - come and see :)

I'm an American, and Lithuania is definitely a hidden gem in Europe. I've been several times, and airfare will be one of your biggest expenses, because the exchange rate for American dollars to Lithuanian litas is very good. Food is good, but different - many restaurants (depending on the city) will have English translations for non-Lithuanian speakers, and the prices are excellent. If you are there long enough, I would say definitely go see Vilnius and Klaipeda, as both cities have much to offer in the way of culture, food and sights. Vilnius is the capital and has lots of history and great picture spots, while Klaipeda has lots of little places around it to visit. For instance, the Curonian Spit as others mentioned is amazingly beautiful, and the tiny fishing villages near it are adorable. Palanga is a short bus-ride away from Klaipeda and is a beach side resort town that is also pretty. Both Vilnius and Klaipeda will have hotel chains you recognize, like Radissons, which will be very reasonable. You will want to look into learning a little of the basic language as not everyone will be able to speak English. I also don't know about your soccer quest, as basketball is more popular and I don't remember seeing any football related events while I was there. Good luck!

Well, never been to Lithuania but I did live in Poland (next door neighbor) for a year. Best thing to do is check every website you can think of for good flight deals. expedia.com, travelocity.com, cheaptickets.com many of these can also find you a good deal on a hotel. Eastern Europe can be a bit tricky legally so definitely check out the American Embassy in Lithuania and the Lithuanian Embassy in Washington D.C. websites for more info there. Eastern European countries are generally VERY inexpensive compared to the United States. On the soccer issue, I can only offer this advice: when talking to Europeans, call it "football" or they'll peg you as an ignorant tourist & you don't want that.

I'm from Lithuania. You must to see the hill of crosses, capital Vilnius, there are many great places to visit. Seaport town-Klaipeda, and how lithuanian says-The capital of summer-Palanga. It's amaizing small town with geat beach, the bridge of the sea and a lot of lovely cafes. There is beautiful count palace "Amber museum". You can see in the palace botanical garden and very interesting amber collection. Kaunas-the second biggest town in the coutry, beatiful because there are many antique buildings and antiquarians. In the Trakai is beautiful medieval castle and many the lakes.

i'm from germany, but i'm in love with lithuania, to say so. it is an amazing country, probably one of the most beautiful in europe or even all around the globe. you MUST see the curonian spit, which is called the sahara of europe, with the highest dunes on the continent. vilniu, the capital city, is very beautiful as well, i would say, the third most impressing city in europe after rome and paris. about soccer. i know that lithuanian sport no. 1 is basketball, but they play soccer (football) as well, i just cannot tell you when and where, but you should find some games in vilnius, i think.

Im lithuanian. you have got to see the hill of crosses. the biggest place covered with crosses in the world. its in northern part. and its near the 4th biggest city, so youll find hotels easily. also you should see our capital city-Vilnius. its an old city with a very nice old town. what else? umm... well, you wont find any small stores here. only supermarkets. and they are everywhere. not everyone likes lithunanian food. its mainly potatoes and pork. but, ofcourse youll find here anything you want to eat. and the lenght of your journey depends on what you want to see. and what soccer do you want to watch? thats not very popular here.
