It depends on what the habit is and who YOU are..... I have known people with addictive personalities who become hooked after one experience - be it heroin, smoking, kyaking, or early morning jogs.
Kicking habits usually entails forming new ones for those of us who are addictive. Instead of having a drink when coming home from work, go for a walk.
See what I mean?

How long does it take to develop a new habit pattern? It depends on how complex the habit pattern is. You can develop a simple habit pattern in 14 to 21 days. For example, if you want to begin getting up half an hour earlier so that you can plan and organize your day, it might take just two to three weeks to develop the habit. If you want to develop a new habit pattern of behavior that does deeper into your character, it might take several months or even a year or more. The most important point is that, no matter how long it takes, the end result is achievable if you are really determined

It takes 30 days generally to develop a habit. If it is a lifelong habit, it will take longer. More like months...

Addictions are often formed immediately. An addiction absolutely enslaves the soul of the addict. Make no mistake, addicts are tortured souls. Habits, however, are formed in 90 days, not 91 days, not 89 days. 90 days. Habits are broken in 3 days. Do not confuse an addiction with a habit.
