My wife's favorite comfort food is chicken-n-dumplin's from scratch. Big chunks of white meat chicken in a gravy thickened from the flour in the dumplings. No pre-made ingredients like chicken broth or bullion cubes. Everything is from scratch.
I like homemade chili. Chunks of tomatos, ground beef, peppers, and onions simmered into a soup that's flavored with spices and beer. A dash of Tobasco sauce. Topped with freshly shredded cheddar cheese and Fritos. Great cold weather food.
