all cell phones have text messaging available on them, but they also charge any wheres from 5 cents to 20 cents for each message sent, or received, so your parents are going to be able to tell if your text messaging other people, my suggestion to you, if you have enough money of your own, buy yourself a pre-paid cell phone, then you will be able to use what you want, and t it will already be paid for, but remember that once you use up all your time, you have to buy a new card to refill your phone with minutes.
If you live in a state that hase verizon wireless, I strongly reccomend thier pre-pay plan ( no I do not work for them ) you can get a camera phone with that plan, and they also give you 15 dollars worth of free air time, a refill card cost from 15 to 150 dollars depending on how much airtime you want, you also recive free night minutes, and mobile to mobile minutes, if you make a call after 9:05pm, then it is totally free, if you call someone else that is using verizon wireless cell phones then it is free at anytime day or night.

I have a T-Mobile phone, and no, text messaging and the Internet are not the same thing. They are to separate deals.
My T-Mobile Internet costs $5 a month, and I use it to talk to friends via Yahoo! Messenger which is much cheaper than if I were to talk to them with text messages.

Internet is ussually 5 dollars a month and text messaging isn't related to that but it either costs per text message, you can buy a limited number of texts, or you can pay to join text in or something like that to get unlimited texting

Yes you do have to pay for internet, but it doesn't have anything to do with text messaging. it's a different package all together
