World peace should start with individual peace. If we can't be at peace with who we are on any given day, then there will definitely never be world peace in the human realm.

The deal with world peace is this: it depends on your definition of peace.

Evil people will forever be rising to power and wielding it in tyrranical fashion. They will not hesitate to use force to advance themselves or expansion of their nation, so other nations will always have to be on the ready (well-trained, well-funded military forces) to combat them.

However, I can see a situation where the only military conflicts are ones like the Iraq war, characterized by the overthrow of the evil dictator and a quick takeover of the country, followed by the relatively long journey to democracy.

In my opinion, however, world peace is a dream, and a dangerous one at that - it can lull us into a false sense of security and encourage irresponsible actions with regard to the budget of the Defense Department.

Well, that's my opinion anyway...

yes! i believe that world peace can be achieved... but thats possible only if people learn to live peacefully with people they deal with...there is a saying in sanskrit language.. " vasudhaiva kutumbakam" which means "the whole world is a family".. hatred should perish and love should flourish... everyone should understand the importance of living happily and give up misery and avarice.. world peace is the only lifeline to human existence.. without world peace human race will meet its end...

Never!
Peace is great, but for how long and what level?
Even sleeping, our body works and fights to get the toxins out of the body! Our heart works and work and motion can be considered war, as something replaces something else which reacts, ....
War is father of everything! But, what kind of war do I suggest? Between people: dialogs, conferences, trade, athletic events, schools, competitions, ....
Between groups and states: trade, competitions, agreements, ...
When people go beyond by killing their fellow people, then we are away from humanity principles and purposes!

There will truly be world peace when Jesus returns. Countries that are at war, may still disagree, but they will no longer fight. World peace is our hope and our dream. And it WILL happen.
