that's crap about not liking black people. i live in germany now and they're no more racist today than anywhere else. you'll always have your share of jerks anywhere....germany is no exception. they love to drink and socialize, they have quiet hours at certain times of the day, ex: lunch hour from 1130-230. you can't do things such as mow your yard, etc....they take much pride in their environment, they are very clean and they sweep their streets and sidewalks every week. they manicure the plants and trees.....they don't leave their car running to keep the air clean...actually i think it's a law. they are very concious of keeping their environment clean and healthy. they shop on a daily basis for meats and produce....it's a beautiful country all around.

Hi, I'm German and I don't know whether there is such a big difference between Germans and Americans. Concerning racism I don't think that it is worse than anywhere else but what is true is that in the eastern part ofGermany (the former GDR i.e. DDR) racism is a bigger issue than in the western part. Environmental protection is very important here, that's true, but something else is that in my opinion Germans are much more reserved towards people they don't know than people from the US. Most of them need some time to open up to others. And Germans don't compliment each other very often either but don't ask me why lol. Something else that is quite common is to shake hands when you're being introduced to someone or simply to greet each other but that always depends on the situation and whom you meet. But something you should pay special attention to? Hm, I can't think of anything right now, but if you have any other questions simply send me a message.

Germany wears its riches well: elegant big-city charm, picture-postcard small towns, pagan-inspired harvest festivals, a wealth of art and culture and the perennial pleasures of huge tracts of forest, delightful castles and fine wine and beer are all there for the enjoying. Germany's reunification in 1990 was the beginning of yet another chapter in Germany's complex history. No visitor will remain untouched by this country's past and the way it affects the nation today.

Read this book:

The Psychopathic God: Adolf Hitler by Robert G L Waite -it's the trap Germans fell into and how they slipped.

And could slip again.

From what I've heard, the west germans around the rhine valley are more non-threatening (like the ones you described), whereas the prussians in the northeast are meaner.
