the best man is a friend or relative, to whom you trust and can rely on. The best man is someone who does the toasts and bachelor party but is also someone who will give the grooms the support he needs when having doubts, and someone who will give the groom advise when needed. The best man is someone the groom can lean on and have a good time time with too.

When a man gets married he traditionally chooses a friend to be his "best man". The idea is that his friend is there to help him through everything.
Also, traditionally, the best man is responsible for planning the bachelor party and giving a toast at the reception.
