I'm from Missouri and we don't say miz-urr-uh. In misery, the emphasis is on the eee (y) syllable at the end. In Missouri, the emphasis is on the zurr syllable in the middle.

No, they are stressed differently. Missouri is stressed on the second syllable, and misery on the first.

People from Missouri don't pronounce the last "i" with and "eee" sound. They pronounce it with an "uh" sound. So no, it doesn't sound like misery if pronounced correctly. : )
