Funny that I ran across this question. I was out mowing the lawn today and seen this red plant. I thought of Where the Red Fern Grows. It was made in Tahlequah, OK. My sister was going to college there and we went to visit the filming one day. Seen the house where they were living and they were filming a scene where the dogs were out hunting. I was a little kid at the time and remember it like it was yesterday. Got autographs from everyone and had them laminated.
I had to go home and read the book. I cried and cried and cried. By the time I seen the movie, I still cried, but at least I knew the whole story and expected what was to come.
I'll be 44 next week. That is one of the saddest movies that I've ever seen. I'll never forget it.

28...we read the book and then watched the movie in school....I've been trying to talk my kids into renting the movie from the library.
