Most states have lost cost Children's insurance, they are for people who make too much for medicaid, but still need coverage. Most of these programs cover pregnancy.
Here is a link of those programs, look up your state and see what they offer. http://www.amsa.org/cah/chiplinks.cfm
Also, I think you can do a search of companies that do cover pregnancy on http://www.ehealthinsurance.com/.
If you have an OB, ask their receptionist which insurances they cover so you can contact them to see if any of them offer private insurance.
Good luck!

most will not do it other than if you can either 1. find a job that includes benefits- then they can't say no to your preexisting "condition"- aka pregnancy. or 2. see if you qualify for medicaid. go down, fill out some papers, including your income and expenses and such. then go to your appointments and say you have presumptive eligibility. as long as you don't make a lot of money, you will probably qualify. the state would rather pay the bills for the visits than have the risk of the finacial burden of an abnormal pregnancy.

you won't find any that will cover once your pregnant. lloyds of london will insure you for anything, but the cost the of birth is cheaper than the premiums. all insurnace companies have exclusions for every condition and have a waiting period before its covered. pre-existing conditions are two years even on every health plan. there are plans for after the child is born called well baby care. most states have that also. depending on your financial situation. the state will pay for it and the delivery.

I know this is not really what you asked for, but it is an option. I am pregnant with my third baby and am planning a homebirth with a certified nurse midwife. Her cost is $2,000 for office visits and the birth. If you are healthy and the pregnancy is going well, homebirth can actually be safer than a hospital birth. I know it is not for everyone, but you could Google 'homebirth statistics' and do a little research. Midwifery is the standard of care in many European countries. God bless you and baby.

If you are not able to get insurance through where you work try the Department of Human Services... The state will cover expectant mothers whose income is not over their income bracket levels... Even if you think you may make too much it never hurts to try!

I agree with shamilton's answer, if you qualify for assistance from social services they will even back date it to cover your first appointment.
