it is dented, oxidized, and the chaulking is coming off. I thought just to replace it with stucco, but perhaps its cheaper to have it rechaulked, pieces that are dented replaced with? , and repainted. Any suggestions?

Bondo the dents to match the surface, sand the surface with a scratch pad on a handle like one used for drywall. The scratch pads come in different colors/grits. Green should work. Use recommended paint on a roller or an airless. Be sure to cover the cars, even the neighbors car, if you use an airless sprayer.

If you are going to take the dented pieces off anyway you could probably flatten out the dents and put the siding back on. An auto body repair set of hammers and (braces?) could be used. As long as the front side of the siding was supported well enough you could flatten the dents from behind with good results.
If you do decide to not use the aluminum siding keep in mind that scrap aluminum prices are at all-time highs, and that can help defray the cost of the work.

Go vinyl siding, probably less expensive then replacing aluminum. There is a paint for aluminum siding.
