Fiction: I love the Benjamin January series by Barbara Hambly beginning with A Free Man of Color. Wonderfully moody, lots of atmosphere, action, suspense, romance.
Nonfiction: An unpretentious little book written in the form of Platonic dialogues, Systems of Survival by Jane Jacobs. Never has any book made so many other things make sense.

By so far, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Although I'm only on page 300 (in 3 days!!!), this book is a roller coaster of religious conspiracy. The intricate plotting and vigorous research made by Dan Brown makes this novel full of action, twists, turns, and surprises around every corner. I'm addicted to this book!

It's hard to choose just one book. I like most of the Harry Potter series (favorite is Goblet of Fire) but I also enjoy Allende's House of Spirits, The Kite Runner, and Crime and Punishment.

My favorite book would have to be the Great Brain series by John Fitzgerald. I loved them because he was always in some type of trouble.
