You probably mean Islam, which is NOT the root of all terrorism. Haven't you ever heard of radical Christians blowing up abortion clinics in the name of jesus? Or the bloody fighting in Ireland?

There are terrorists of every religion. No religion has any exclusive lock on being a terrorist, and the root of terrorism is ignorance and fanaticism

Too many people know too little about Islam, and form their beliefs about it and its followers based solely on what the evening news wants you to think.

If by "slam" you mean Islam, then you're wrong - Islam is not the root of terrorism.

Terrorism has its roots in many factors, but I believe the most powerful is misinformation, which is both believed and propagated by the ignorant. If a person is poor and uneducated, and has never had basic necessities like clean water or electricity, and has never seen the greater world around him, then perhaps he can be persuaded by extremists that America or Britain or Israel is the source of hi susffering.
Once convinced, all one needs to do is spread the word, and once that's done, it's time to act - voila - terrorism.

Because Islam is the most radical repressive of all religions. The basic premise of all religions is to keep the masses poor and uninformed and you can control them. Islam just better at that than other groups. There are more poor, uninformed Muslims than in any other religion. Just look at the predominately muslim countries. Bangaladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tazikistan, Malayasia, Indonesia, Palestine, Iran, Yemen, and the list can go on and on to include countries in Africa. I am not opposed to people of faith but people with blind faith are very easy to direct. Anything in the name of the supreme being of their religion is to be followed without question and you have to remember there are good leaders in all religions and there are bad leaders in all religions. Just as there are good and bad carpenters, bus drivers, and air plane pilots. Guess that means that there are more bad leaders in Islam than there are good. Do not condemn the masses for thier acts when it is done out of fear and greed. Yes fear, they are threatened with hell and damnation if they do not follw the word of the leaders. Yes, greed ! Is it not greedy of a person to think that if the kill a lot of people they will be given a bunch of virgins in their next life. All wars have been holy wars and the war of terrorism we are fighting now is just that.

It is not the religion itself but the people. In every faith there are good and bad people and to look at a faith and condemn it for radicals is unfair. There are many similarities between the Christian ideas and that of Islam and a consistent thread is that we should treat others as we wished to be treated. It is true of Christianity, Jewish, Buddist and the Muslims faiths. Obviously culture enters the picture, as a Buddhist, I follow things that you may not accept, so too with others. I feel repelled when I enter a Catholic Church and see big stained glass windows of martyrs, and see crucifixes with Jesus Christ suffering on the cross. It is their custom to remind the congregation of the sufferings of Jesus...but for me, I feel uncomfortable. Too much has been written in the press of the evils of Islam, but they want to sell newspapers. Any faith is a means for man to join or relate with the world and immortality but the paths may travel in different directions. Pagans, Druids, Animalists, Ancestor-worshippers, Hindu and all the others follow the same quest. We want to have a meaning to our lives. There are many Muslims around the world who are just as hard-working and as thoughtful as you. They have the same hopes as you do. Take for example, Hitler, while not religious, was the devil incarnate. Don't fault the religion, fault the application by men.

You seem to have a very narrow view of things my friend. Do you really believe that Islam is the root of all terrorism? Durring the cursades Christians invaded and slaughtered thousands in the name of their faith. Christian spaniards enslaved and slaughtered thousands of native Americans in the name of Christ. Women have been burned at the stake in the name of Christianity. Is it the religion that is the root of these evils...or is it the zealots behind them???

Because look who is taking credit for all the explosions in the world and you will hear the word "Islam" in what they say or what they call themselves. If they called themselves elves we would probably be looking for Santa right now.
