i got a normal pc and my sister need another pc... so instead of buying another pc, if i buy monitor, keyboard and mouse.... is it possible to share my cpu to that monitor by networking it... but i need to use the both the computer at the same time....

I enquired about this... my frd said its possible through linux os... but not in windows.... is it true???

it will generally slow things down to the point that you will end up getting her a new computer and getting yourself a new one too...if it works that is (if u use XP, it wont work sorry). just get yourself a new one and give her the old one. :)

Linux, by virtue of being Unix, is a multi-user operating system. However, it's not really clear what you're after here. What do you plan to use the PC for? It won't work for stuff like games and Windows apps in general.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "Networking" it. Are you talking about hooking old-style terminals up to it? If not you're talking about networking it with another PC, and there goes your cost savings.

It will be cheaper, faster and much more efficient to buy another PC.

However, it is possible in Linux and theoretically possible in XP Server Edition (but you probably don't have that, or the $200+ you need to upgrade...).

I don't think it's possible. Computers are getting cheap. You could even get a used one.
