Yeah, but first--I'm not a bipolaric. I'm a person. I have some bipolar symptoms that are controlled with medication.
I've had it for a few years, since I injured my brain. I have seizures that cause depression and mania. I
I have had suicidal thoughts, but I am stronger for learning to overcome those thoughts and come to the realization that I am a great person who deserves a good life just like anyone else.
You cope with by getting real about life, what's true, and what lasts. Education can help, work can help, you can do this.
Your life is waiting.

I have it to a degree, and I control it with no meds. I just know when I am on the verge of the down side, and I try to adjust my activity so I don't get overwhelmed. My niece is bi-polar, too, and she takes several meds for it . She is bad off, though. When she is up, she is REALLY up...for days, sometimes. She may go several nights without sleep, and paint her whole house or rearrange furniture or be outside digging a garden at 4am. When she is on the down side, she is suicidal and can't function at all in her own home. Her meds help, but Emotions Anonymous has helped her more than anything. It's a 12 step program patterend after Alcoholics Anonymous that deals with emotions, and you may have a local chapter where you live. Check your yellow pages! Good luck, and life has not ended, sweetheart! Just take your time, learn about the condition, and use what works for you!

I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder for about 2 yrs now, but I've had it for a little longer.

I have had severe mania and severe depression, but it's under control with zoloft, depakote and topamax. Also, ativan for panic attacks.

I've had a period of suicidal tendencies, but that went away once the correct medications were found. (Talk therapy is also important).

Don't be scared, it may take a little bit to find the right mixture of meds, but when you do you'll be amazed at how wonderful life can be again.

I'm not but my brother is. If you're bipolar, don't you have mania or at least the most simple of mania?
