Does anyone else miss the Hartford Whalers? I think it's sad they moved to a part of the country that knows ice only as the stuff found in their freezer. (Same can be said about the Dallas Stars, and the Winnepeg Jets; except that i kinda like the Stars)

i'm not bashing all southern teams. I was unlucky enough to have my favorite teams be the whalers and winnipeg. I reserve the right to hold some bitterness.

I miss the whalers with all of my heart and it sickened me to see Carolina celebrate with the Stanley Cup. That should've been CT have a victory parade not those dawn Carolina who think icing is just frosting on a cake!!! Okay okay I am done venting now!!!

Apparently you've never been to North Carolina in the winter. Sure our summers are hot, but in the winter we get everything from sleet to snow. I should know, my power was knocked out for 6 days because of a huge ice storm in 2002. I was also stuck in my house for 2 days because of a blizzard in 2000, and I live about 10 miles from the RBC center where the 'Canes play. My point is, it's the NATIONAL Hockey League... not the Northern States Only Hockey League. Give me a break. Hockey is a fun, fast-moving, exciting sport. Can't southerners enjoy it too? The only sad part about it is there are lots more people out there with your attitude.

I do..I would have much rather seen the CUP in Hartford than Carolina...I hate tosee it below the Mason-Dixon line...just weird..and i agree I liked the Old North Stars and Jets...and hated when the Avanche won the 1st year after leaving Quebec... but being I have relocated to NM..I am glad I can see games in Phoenix

i'm this form of Canadiens fan that throughout juniors, to piss off my coach from Boston, i've got been given Whalers colored shinguard socks. Of the communities who've moved in view that Bettman took over I omit the Nordiques the main.

Boy would the league you people want be BORING. All the teams have to be ABOVE the Mason-Dixon line? Come on. Where would we keep them. They wouldn't really even be spread out. Although since it would pretty much keep them from being able to move the Penguins if this thing with a new arena doesn't work out then I support it lol.

Come on! I've lived all over the country. I grew up in the North(Go Wings! Go Sabres!) and now I live in NC. You've gotta give us relocated hockey fans some credit. I support all my favorite teams from my house in the South, and even though my roots are in the North, you can't be so conceited as to keep the sport to yourself. Go Hurricanes!
p.s. I understand about the favorite-teams relocating. So support the Hurricanes! It doesn't matter that they changed their name, you can still watch them on the NHL!

If you're not bashing southern hockey teams, then why do you say that we only know ice as the stuff found in our freezer???
