Obviously boxers, real wrestlers, and a few other sports have athlete's who are in greater shape, but I would just like to focus on the two.

The answer should mostly be based on stamina and how physically in shape the athletes are. Not on skill.

American football players would be stronger and faster, but soccer players would have more endurance. Depends on how you want to define being in shape...

Strength (and perhaps steroids) in American Footbal versus Endurance. It all depends. And where is this "real wrestlers" are in greater shape (than footbal/soccer) players coming from ? There're other sports (Iron Man Triathlon for example) where athletes are certainly fitter than in other sports (say Baseball or Curling).

I think it's a toss up since soccer players run more, but football players run and are also using their upper bodies when throwing the ball, etc. Also, football players go thru more vigorous training to prepare.

I have never seen a fat soccer player but, I see plenty of chunky American football players. Is that enough evidence?
